Erie struck first in the first inning for the second consecutive night. Niuman Romero led off and doubled off of Curve starter Phil Irwin. Romero moved to third on a Brandon Douglas flyout and scored on a Rob Brantly groundout for a 1-0 lead. Jordan Lennerton followed and belted a solo home run to straight away center, his seventh, for a 2-0 lead. It was the first home run for Lennerton since April 19.
The Curve got a run back in the top of the second against Erie starter Jared Wesson. With two outs, Jeremy Farrell connected on a solo home run to straight away center making it 2-1.
The 'Wolves went back ahead by two in the bottom of the second. Ben Guez led off, doubled and moved to third on a Corey Jones groundout. Guez scored on a Michael Rockett sacrifice fly to center for a 3-1 lead.
The Curve came to within a run again in the top of the fourth. Wesson walked the bases loaded with Ramon Cabrera, Farrell and Charlie Cutler. With two outs, Kelson Brown drew a bases loaded walk making it 3-2 Erie. Mark Sorensen replaced Wesson and got the final out with no further damage.
In the fourth, Guez led off and walked, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. Guez scored on a Jones sacrifice fly making it a 4-2 ballgame.
The SeaWolves extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth against reliever Shairon Martis. Guez and Jones belted back-to-back home runs with one out in the inning making it 6-2 'Wolves. It was the first home run for both Guez and Jones and it was the first time the 'Wolves have hit back-to-back homers this season.
Altoona got one in the eighth against reliever Robbie Weinhardt and the 'Wolves responded in the bottom half to get the run back. Guez walked with one out and scored on a Jones double. Jones finished the day with three RBI and the 'Wolves took a 7-3 lead into the ninth.
Weinhardt worked a scoreless ninth, preserving the Erie win.
Sorensen (1-2) earned the win tossing 3.1 scoreless innings in relief. He allowed just one hit with a walk and three strikeouts.
The SeaWolves look for four in a row on Saturday night against Altoona at Jerry Uht Park...7:05 First Pitch. RHP James Avery (4-2, 2.70 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Brandon Cumpton (4-2, 3.44 ERA).
